NAIROBI, (CAJ News) – KENYA is seeking a partnership with India to grow the East African country’s digital economy.
Discussions to ensure that have been concluded at the sidelines of the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES 2025) that concluded in Mumbai, India on Sunday.
William Gitau, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, met Ashwini Vaishnaw, India’s Minister of Railways Information and Broadcasting, Electronics and Information Technology.
“We discussed digitising the government, growing digital economies, film and e-commerce, and empowering youth and women at the heart of Africa’s creative future,” Gitau said.
He invited global partners to join Kenya’s vibrant tech and innovation ecosystem.
“We also proposed a global repository of best practices in media and entertainment, driving ethical, inclusive and sustainable innovation,” Gitau said of the meeting with Vaishnaw.
At the WAVES, Kenya’s presentation was centred on a call to governments to invest in bridging the digital divide, combat misinformation, empower youth and women as well as co-create sustainable, ethical innovation.
“Kenya stands ready to lead and partner in shaping a vibrant, inclusive and forward-looking global media landscape. Kenya is embracing this mission through innovation, inclusion, and cultural pride,” Gitau assured.
