United States President, Donald Trump broke his pre-election peace pledge to conduct massive sea and air operations off the Caribbean cost of Venezuela for 2 months.
On the night of 2nd January 2026 Nicholas Maduro Moros, the President of Venezuela was cornered and captured by the Federal Bureau of Investigatio (FBI) and US Marines, moved out of Venezuela to the United States and Indicted in New York on drug charges.
Maduro’s wife was also captured on similar charges.
The US technically arrested Maduro as a drug and arms criminal in civil law. Maduro, born in Caracas, the Capital of Venezuela in November 1962, was President from 2013, succeeding Hugo Chavez in 2012.
A bounty of $55 million was place on Maduro and four others, $15 million on Maduro himself, for information leading to his location and capture.
Maduro, a former bus driver, rose to power after political ideological training in Cuba.
That allegations appear to be smoke screen, on the background of an oil rich nation badly managed by tyrannic regimes.
The real issues appear to be suppression of opposition leaders, rigging elections such as overturning the loss to Edmundo Gonzalez in the last July 2024 elections and disqualifying opposition Presidential candidates María Corina Machado who had won the presidential preliminaries.
María Corina Machado was awarded the Nobel Peace prize later in 2025. In December 1989 the US captured General Manuel Antonio Noriega, President of Panama on drug and other charges.
The US is also believed to be seeking to capture Daniel Ortega, the Sandinista National Liberation Front leader of Nicaragua.
The real issue is undemocratic regimes in South America, who are a thorn on American interests, by destroying their economies and sending out migrants to the USA and setting up factories for drugs.
The invasion of another county, by whatever reason, is unlawful. The are shivers in the region such as Cuba, the home origin of the parents of Secretary of State Marco Antonio Rubio, that they could be targets of American power.
But sometimes the world needs strongmen to discipline some of the world leaders.

The government of South Africa supports illegitimate elections in surrounding countries and puts massive amounts of force to block migrants, instead of solving the problem. If the US places its warships in the Indian and Atlantic, South Africa is hapless.
The country must build a strong economy, then a strong army for deterrents. Until then avoid provocations, run the country and not allow technocrats to dictate policy.
