Global airlines to launch flights to Cape Town

CAPE TOWN, (CAJ News) – ARRIVALS in Cape Town are set to increase and tourism to grow in the coming months as local and international airlines introduce new flights or expand services to the South African city.

Wesgro, the investment promotion for the city and the Western Cape province confirmed the details.

South African Airways has announced that the carrier will operate a new seasonal service between Mauritius and Cape Town, starting December 9 with three flights per week.

Air Tanzania announced the first ever service between Dar es Salaam and Cape Town, set to start on December 11.

LATAM will commence in September 2026, introducing three weekly flights direct to Cape Town, marking it the only South American carrier operating direct flights to the city.

CemAir has announced the launch of a new direct domestic route between George and Hoedspruit three times a week, starting in May 2026.

Emirates has announced a third daily flight on the Dubai-Cape Town route from July.

Wesgro discloses that Cape Town International Airport handled over 287 000 two-way passengers at the international terminal in October 2025, showing exceptional year-on-year growth of 15 percent.

Year-to-date international passenger volumes are up 6 percent, reaching 2,5 million.

The domestic terminal processed over 750 000 two-way passengers for October, a strong 16 percent year-on-year increase, compared to the same period in 2024.

Year-to-date, the domestic terminal growth remains steady at 8 percent with over 6,4 million two-way passengers processed.
