JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – VODACOM Group Limited (JSE: VOD) has announced robust interim results for the six months ended 30 September 2025, delivering double-digit growth across key metrics and declaring an interim dividend of 330 cents per share, up 15.8% year-on-year.
The Group’s total customer base grew 8.6% to 223.2 million, including 93.7 million financial services customers. Revenue rose 10.9% to R81.6 billion, while service revenue increased 12.2% to R65.8 billion.
EBITDA advanced 14.7% to R30.5 billion, with headline earnings per share (HEPS) up 32.3% to 467 cents.
Chief Executive Officer Shameel Joosub said the performance underscores Vodacom’s resilience and strategic progress toward its Vision 2030, which targets over 260 million customers and double-digit EBITDA growth.
“We delivered a strong first half in a stable macroeconomic environment, supported by our diversified portfolio and disciplined execution,” he said.
Financial services remained a major growth driver, with revenue surging 20.3% to R8.0 billion, contributing 12.2% to Group service revenue. M-Pesa, Africa’s largest mobile money platform, processed over US$476.8 billion in transaction value.
Regional operations delivered standout results. Egypt achieved a 42.3% local currency service revenue increase to R17.6 billion, driven by customer growth and the rollout of 5G services.
South Africa grew service revenue by 2.2% to R31.7 billion, supported by strong data demand and network investment of R54.1 billion over the past five years.
The International segment — including the DRC, Lesotho, Mozambique, and Tanzania — reported 13.3% service revenue growth to R16.7 billion.
Safaricom, in which Vodacom holds a significant stake, reported 11.1% service revenue growth, with strong performances in Kenya and Ethiopia, where customer numbers rose 83.7% to 11.1 million.
Vodacom invested R9.4 billion in technology and networks during the period, including expanding 4G and 5G sites. Strategic partnerships with Airtel Africa and Orange are set to enhance rural connectivity and bridge Africa’s digital divide.
