CAPE TOWN, (CAJ News) – LOCAL and international airlines are expanding flights to Cape Town, boosting passenger traffic growth in South Africa’s world-famous coastal city.

Wesgro, the official tourism, trade and investment promotion agency for Cape Town and the Western Cape province, provided an update.

FlySafair is expanding its service by offering a new route between Hoedspruit in Limpopo and Cape Town, launching in October with three flights per week.

In addition, the carrier will increase its Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport – Cape Town service from three flights per week to daily, from October 1.

Air France will extend the seasonal flight between Paris and Cape Town until May 4, 2026.

Wesgro, meanwhile, disclosed Cape Town International Airport’s terminal two-way passenger traffic grew by 9 percent, with over 219 500 two-way passengers handled in July.

The positive monthly growth has contributed to year-to-date international passenger volumes remaining solid at 5 percent.

The domestic terminal processed over 607 000 two-way passengers for July, an 8 percent year-on-year increase, compared to the same period in 2024.

Dubbed South Africa’s “Mother City”, Cape Town is a global tourist haven.

It is the legislative capital of South Africa and the second-most populous city in the country, after Johannesburg.
