POLOKWANE, (CAJ News) – ORLANDO Pirates climbed out of the relegation zone with a crucial 1-0 win over Stellenbosch FC in a tightly fought Betway Premiership encounter at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday night.

A 15th-minute strike by Mike Kamogelo Sebelebele proved decisive, handing the Buccaneers their first league victory of the campaign and lifting them from 15th to 12th on the log.

The result provided much-needed relief for embattled coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, who came into the match under pressure after back-to-back defeats to Sekhukhune United and Marumo Gallants, as well as a draw against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 semifinal first leg.

Elsewhere, champions Mamelodi Sundowns maintained their unbeaten start with a 2-0 win over Magesi FC at Seshego Stadium, Limpopo.

Second-half goals from Jayden Adams (73rd) and Peter Shalulile (87th) secured the three points, taking Sundowns’ tally to seven points from three matches.

In Durban, AmaZulu FC edged Marumo Gallants 1-0 thanks to Keegan Allan’s strike on the stroke of halftime.

The victory lifted Usuthu to sixth place, while Gallants, despite suffering their first loss of the season, remain fifth on the table.

Wednesday’s Betway Premiership results:

  • Magesi FC 0–2 Mamelodi Sundowns
  • Orlando Pirates 1–0 Stellenbosch FC
  • AmaZulu FC 1–0 Marumo Gallants
