JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – CONDOLENCES are pouring in for Tendai Ndoro, the Zimbabwean footballer who has passed away in neighbouring South Africa.

He was 40.

Details around his death are sketchy but it is reported he was found lifeless at his apartment in Johannesburg.

Orlando Pirates, the iconic South African side, the most popular he played for, led the condolences.

“The club extends heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and loved ones during this difficult time,” Pirates stated.

Ndoro played for the Soweto-based side from 2015 to 2017.

He scored 25 goals from 48 matches.

The forward endeared himself to The Buccaneers with impressive performances against Pirates’ biggest rivals, Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.

He had a big match temperament.

The South African Football Players Union (SAFPU) expressed deep sadness.

It hailed the Bulawayo-born player as “a true talent whose brilliance lit up the game.”

The now-deceased was nicknamed “Fire” for his prowess.

“We send our heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones and the football fraternity,” SAFPU condoled.

Ndoro joined Pirates from fellow Premiership club, Mpumalanga Black Aces, where he had impressed from hometown outfit, Chicken Inn.

After Pirates, he played for other South African sides, Ajax Cape Town and Highlands Park.

He also had a spell in Saudi Arabia with Al-Faisaly.

Ndoro had 14 international caps for Zimbabwe, scoring five goals.

He had not officially retired and there were reports he was set to revive his career in Eswatini.
