LUSAKA, (CAJ News) – ZAMBIAN police have arrested another blogger as the government intensifies its crackdown on alleged abuse of the cyber space.

Critics however believe this is another move by the administration to maintain its grip on power and punish opponents.

The blogger, Stephen Nyirenda, aged 36 is also a businessman and journalist at a local radio station.

The Cybercrime Task Force of the police arrested him this week after multiple complaints against his Facebook page.

Those reporting to police alleged they had been defamed and subjected to cyber bullying.

Critics accuse the administration of former opposition leader, Hakainde Hichilema, of dictatorship since assuming power in 2021.

Polls are set for next year but the atmosphere is already toxic.
