WINDHOEK, (CAJ News) – TELECOM Namibia Chief Executive Officer Stanley Shanapinda is the new Executive Secretary of the Communications Regulators’ Association of Southern Africa (CRASA).
He will therefore leave his position in Namibia to lead the Botswana-headquartered regional organisation responsible for promoting regulatory harmonisation and cooperation among communications regulators across the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
Shanapinda has been with Telecom Namibia since 2021.
During his tenure, Telecom Namibia embarked on a comprehensive transformation programme focused on network modernisation, digital transformation, customer experience improvement, business process optimisation, strategic partnerships and long-term sustainability.
Major initiatives included the implementation of the company’s Integrated Strategic Business Plan 2023–2027.
“It has been a privilege and honour to serve Telecom Namibia, its employees, customers, stakeholders and the people of Namibia,” he said.
Shanapinda said that while significant challenges remain across the telecommunications sector, he is proud of the progress achieved collectively in positioning Telecom Namibia for future growth and transformation.
“I leave with confidence in the company’s future and in the capable leadership and employees who will continue advancing its strategic objectives.”
The Telecom Namibia board said his appointment reflects positively on Namibia’s growing contribution to regional telecommunications and ICT leadership.
“As Namibia, we look forward to working with member regulators, governments, industry stakeholders and development partners to support the region’s digital ambitions.”
Shanapinda succeeds Bridget Mphatso Linzie from Malawi.
