JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – OLD Mutual is warning the public about highly sophisticated investment scams circulating on social media, messaging platforms and email.

These scams are impersonating Old Mutual Group senior executives in an effort to mislead potential victims.

The latest scam uses the company’s name, as well as the name of Old Mutual Group Chief Operations Officer Zureida Ebrahim, to create a misleading sense of credibility.

“It is positioned as a proposal for a mutually beneficial opportunity and seems to be driven by a well-coordinated syndicate,” Old Mutual stated.

The company urged consumers to remain alert and protect themselves from fraudsters and identity thieves.

“We take the protection of all customer information seriously as we continually review and strengthen our security controls. Vigilance and awareness are key in the fight against this form of crime,” the company stated.
