US President Donald Trump

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – A sigh of relief for Africa at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)!

United States President Donald Trump did not specifically threaten or mention South Africa and other African countries.

This is what UN, sitting in New York from 21 September 2026, has turned out to be, a platform for diplomatic threats in the image of American interests.

In fact, the foundation of the United Nations, and its New York headquarters deployed that outlook, American interests.

It used to be a proud moment to step into New York to attend the UN General Assembly as world leaders came together to build a more prosperous and secure world, until American interests took centre stage.

The UN has lost its intended character. Will it survive to transform itself and be irrelevant?

The US President Trump treated the august house like a class of American voters.

That our country is stronger, and the economy is the envy of the world, more Americans found jobs and 1.5 million moved out of poverty, real income soared and that the country removed unnecessary obstacles for doing business, with stock markets overpouring at all-time high.

He said America is the hottest (best) country in the world and nobody comes unless invited.

Crime went down by 87% while investment increased by $3 trillion, making America better, safer and most powerful country in the world.

From an African point of view, I did not dispute Trump on this achievements record, except that the African governments seemed to be taking orders, frightened, gimmickry, cheering to be seen to be going along.

It reminded me of ZanuPF rallies, where you must be seen punching up, cheering when the eyes of the President and his spotters scanned around, otherwise you are in trouble.

The difference though is that the US is far richer, from machinations it created, such as negotiating with Saudi Arabia to sell oil in US dollar.

The Africans think they have no money, they want the US investors to come and invest, entrenching themselves in something which works only in one directional favour, instead of making a plan, as the USA did.

Look at this plan www.organizecapitals.com If African countries can contribute 1 cent when making mobile phones and WhatsApp, billions of dollars would be available for manufacturing, distribution, exports and building stronger armies, so that the US will not boss Africa around.

Africans are concerned that their leaders do not see the Houdini coming.

This power of the US is coming, because it is difficult to define what American interests are.

If that interest is under your feet, you are in trouble, you have to move as demanded.

Every empire uses force. The weak will be trembled.

The weakness of Africa makes it vulnerable. South Africa, hosting the Cape Route and critical minerals is particularly disposed.

And it has started, with visa restrictions regime announced recently and sanctions for reporting Israel to the International Court Justice (ICJ).

The so-called planners in Africa are oblivious they are playing the wrong harp. The enemy of Africa is not the African.

The arch now is Iran. Anybody dealing with Iran is threatened and President Trump declared that the US will use its military might to advance its interests.

African countries will be forced to look away, because they are weak and divided.

A president who announces to annihilate another country and capturing another president is too strong for them. Donal Trump would not listen to the bickering in the UNGA.

Most Africans think their leaders will come out with nothing.

It is an expensive vacation.

The UN Secretary General addressed the body for the last time.

He painted a grave picture of misuse of power and a litany of distaste of world events.

Many Africans think the UN does not serve them.

The only way forward is to disband the United Nations body.

It cannot be transformed because it cannot restrict the USA, who needs it to project US power, and to lecture so-called members like Lilliputians.
