KAMPALA, (CAJ News) – MTN has kicked off its 21 Days of Y’ello Care campaign in Uganda, with a focus on healthcare.
Together with its partners, it has, since Monday this week, been leveraging technology, innovation and collaboration to support initiatives that strengthen maternal healthcare and improve access to quality health services across the country.
Throughout the three-week period, the telecommunications operator will support public health facilities across the country through community health camps, maternal and child health education, health worker capacity-building, digital health initiatives and critical infrastructure improvements.
MTN staff will dedicate their time and resources to serving communities in this regard.
“Over the next 21 days, we’ll be taking action, building partnerships and creating lasting impact for mothers, children and families across Uganda,” the telecommunications company stated.
Leveraging its core strengths, MTN Uganda is equipping health workers with electronic medical records training, boosting digital literacy for village health teams and offering financial literacy through MTN MoMo to build household resilience.
Dr Charles Ayume, Minister of State for Health, welcomed the initiative by MTN Uganda.
“While Uganda has seen notable improvements in maternal and infant health, disparities persist. Our challenge now is to guarantee access to high-quality care for every mother and child,” he noted.
The Uganda Red Cross has also joined the campaign, which is being held under the theme, “Expand Equitable Health for Every Community.”
The 21 Days of Y’ello Care is MTN’s flagship employee volunteerism and corporate social responsibility initiative, bringing together staff across Africa to dedicate 21 days of service, skills and resources to addressing pressing community needs.
