ZF unveils AI workshop solutions

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – ZF Aftermarket will showcase a range of digital, training and sustainable braking innovations at Automechanika Frankfurt 2026, aimed at helping workshops improve efficiency and prepare for the future of vehicle servicing.

Among the highlights is the launch of a new AI Voice Agent for the ZF [pro]Manager workshop management platform.

Designed as a virtual front desk, the system enables workshops to handle customer enquiries and bookings around the clock using natural-language conversations rather than conventional automated phone menus.

The AI-powered solution can recognise vehicle makes, models and service requirements, while integrating directly with workshop schedules to book appointments and capture customer information automatically.

ZF says the technology will reduce missed calls, ease pressure on front-desk staff and improve customer service.

The innovation has also been nominated in the AI Solutions and Digitalisation category of the Automechanika Innovation Awards 2026.

The company will also introduce its High Voltage Battery Insights Training Programme, developed for members of the ZF [pro]Tech network.

The programme combines practical and theoretical instruction to equip technicians with the skills needed to diagnose, repair and safely handle high-voltage batteries used in electric vehicles.

ZF Aftermarket Head Philippe Colpron said workshops were facing growing challenges as vehicle technology became increasingly complex.

“Our role is to make this transformation manageable by combining digital tools, technical training, diagnostics and original equipment expertise to help our partners improve performance and deliver reliable service,” he said.

In addition, ZF will unveil what it describes as the industry’s first brake fluid containing recycled material.

The new TRW DOT 4 Brake Fluid ESP Recycled contains 60 per cent post-consumer recycled content while meeting stringent quality and safety standards.

The product forms part of ZF’s broader sustainability strategy, responding to increasing demand from workshops, distributors and motorists for environmentally responsible aftermarket solutions.

Through its latest technologies, ZF aims to strengthen workshop productivity, accelerate digital transformation and support the transition to electric mobility while expanding its portfolio of sustainable automotive products.
