LUSAKA, (CAJ News) – AIRTEL Zambia is rolling out retail shops countrywide to bring telecommunication services closer to its customers.

As part of this exercise, the operator plans to launch 45 new shops by the end of September 2026, bringing the total number of shops to 98 across the country.

This week, it opened five shops, including one in the Woodlands suburb in the capital, Zambia.

Lusaka Central Member of Parliament Mulambo Haimbe, who is also Minister of Foreign Affairs, alongside Airtel Managing Director Hussam Baday, graced the launch.

Baday emphasised that this expansion reflected Airtel’s ongoing investment in service quality, accessibility and delivering reliable digital solutions to the communities it serves.

“Our Woodlands shop represents more than just a new location; it is part of a broader effort to enhance customer experience through faster support, improved convenience and more personalised, face-to-face service.”

He said this would further strengthen Airtel’s presence and ensure the operator remained closer, more accessible and more responsive to its customers’ needs.

Other Airtel shops officially opened this week include Airtel Carousel Mall, Airtel Chiparamba Road, Airtel Lumumba and Airtel Ibex Hub.

Haimbe noted that such investments by Airtel played a vital role in driving development by creating jobs, expanding access to digital services and stimulating economic activity within communities.

Owned by India’s Bharti Airtel, it is Zambia’s main operator, holding approximately 48 percent of total mobile subscribers in the Southern African country.
