It joins a growing list of budget-friendly models that feature 5G as a standard, including its predecessor, the Honor 400 Lite.
The 600 Lite is the latest in a series of devices the ambitious manufacturer has introduced as it executes an aggressive strategy to expand in the highly competitive South African market.
It is a mid-range smartphone boasting features synonymous with a flagship.
In South Africa, where competition is cut-throat, Honor says it brings a premium design, advanced AI photography and powerful battery performance into a category that continues to demand more for less.
Competition remains intense across all tiers, including the mid-range.
Standout features of the smartphone (which comes in Sprout Green and Velvet Black locally) include a premium metal-forged unibody design, measuring 7.3mm thin, as well as 157.4mm in height and 75.35mm in width.
Weighing just 180g, the 600 Lite is comfortable to hold.
Despite its light weight and slim profile, it features a 6520mAh battery, offering extended battery life and supported by 45W Honor SuperCharge.
This is particularly useful given the unreliable power supply that persists in the local market, despite assurances that the dreaded load shedding is over.
I can count on one hand the number of times I had to charge this smartphone over a fortnight. It is rated to deliver up to 48 hours of battery life with moderate use.
In addition to a premium 6.67-inch 120Hz refresh rate 1.5K AMOLED display and ultra-narrow bezels, the 108MP main camera is another feature that gives the 600 Lite a flagship feel.
The device, running on MagicOS 10 based on Android 16, is marketed under the theme “AI in Every Click”, and aptly so, as it integrates AI across photography and efficiency.
It sports a dedicated AI Camera Button with a range of functions.
The AI suite includes Eraser, Memories, Outpainting, Translate and Writing, among others.
VERDICT: Retailing at R8 999, the 600 Lite is a budget-friendly device that punches well above its weight.
