GABORONE, (CAJ News) – TRADING turnover on the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) has grown by 14,3 percent to P8,7 billion (US$660,4 million) a year-to-date basis.

This is for the period January to November 2025.

This growth was propelled by a 268,6 percent increase in equities trading and a 22,6 percent increase in exchange-traded funds (ETFs) trading, which counter-balanced a 52,1 percent decline in bonds turnover.

The average daily equity turnover increased by 273,8 percent, rising from P6,5 million in 2024 to P24,3 million in 2025, highlighting robust investor participation in 2025.

During the period under review, the domestic company index (DCI) appreciated by 6,5 percent in comparison to an increase of 11,6 percent during the corresponding period in 2024 and the domestic company total return Index (DCTRI) appreciated by 12,7 percent in comparison to an increase of 21,6 percent during the corresponding period in 2024.

The foreign company index (FCI) registered a significant increase of 15,6 percent in comparison to an appreciation of 5,6 percent in the corresponding period in 2024.

The top three traded companies during the period under review were FNBB (P917,9 million), Sefalana (P608,7 million) and Sechaba (P449,9 million).

The total turnover from these companies accounted for 36,1 percent of total equity turnover, with the leading counter FNBB accounting for 16,8 percent of total equity turnover.

Some 32 of 33 of stocks listed on the BSE have been actively traded this year.
