JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – THE energy efficiency and innovative solutions company, Alcap Group, has marked a significant step in its journey toward energy security, lowering operating costs and environmental sustainability.
This after African integrator of information and communication technology (ICT) solutions, NEC XON, commissioned two commercial-scale photovoltaic (PV) systems in Alcaps’ bases in Gauteng.
The installations comprise a 202.6kWp system at Podium at Menlyn and a 212.3kWp system at Cambridge Commercial Park.
Together, the projects represent a combined investment of nearly R4 million and include a ten-year operations and maintenance contract with NEC XON for each site.
Each site features Tier-1 solar panels, string inverters optimised for load requirements and mounting structures tailored to the existing roof requirements. Real-time performance tracking is enabled via cloud-based monitoring software, continuously sharing energy generation data and operational insights.
“These systems are more than just energy solutions – they’re a visible commitment to sustainable business practices. They position us as forward-thinkers in a competitive property market,” Mark Allen, Director at Alcap Group, emphasised.
Installations have been completed following a competitive tender awarded in November 2024.
Ryan Burger, Project Manager at NEC XON, said the Alcap Group faced mounting energy costs, limited control over consumption and a need to align with the group’s sustainability goals.
Prior to implementation, the client relied entirely on grid electricity.
“Our grid-tied PV solutions directly address these challenges by reducing reliance on daytime grid electricity, lowering long-term energy operational costs, and supporting environmental objectives,” Burger said.
NEC XON is a part of NEC, a Japanese global company.
It has operated in Africa since 1963.
