JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – THE South African Communist Party (SACP) has accused the United States of hypocrisy and political manipulation, saying Washington’s sudden concern over alleged “genocide” against white Afrikaners is a deliberate attempt to divert global attention from Israel’s ongoing atrocities in Gaza — atrocities the US itself continues to fund and enable.
According to the SACP, while the US government supplies Israel with weapons, financial aid, and diplomatic cover, it has simultaneously amplified unsubstantiated claims of “white genocide” in South Africa.
This, the party argues, forms part of a broader campaign to demonize post-apartheid South Africa and discredit its foreign policy solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Independent human rights organizations — including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch — have repeatedly condemned Israel’s military campaign in Gaza as collective punishment that targets civilians, destroys hospitals, schools, and places of worship, and constitutes clear violations of international humanitarian law.
Over 50,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed since the escalation of violence in late 2023, while entire neighborhoods lie in ruins.
The SACP says Washington’s fixation on fabricated stories of anti-white violence in South Africa exposes its racial and geopolitical bias.
“If the US were genuinely concerned about genocide,” the party stated, “it would act to end the slaughter in Gaza rather than weaponize false narratives to undermine African nations that challenge Western dominance.”
The SACP also condemned Israel’s continued airstrikes in southern Lebanon — in breach of the November 2024 cease-fire — as further evidence of Tel Aviv’s disregard for international law, emboldened by unconditional US backing.
The party called on South Africans to reject Western disinformation and unite in defense of national sovereignty, while strengthening alliances through BRICS and other multipolar partnerships aimed at creating a fairer global order.
“The real genocide,” the SACP concluded, “is unfolding in Gaza, under the watchful eye and financial sponsorship of the United States.”
BRICS is an intergovernmental organization comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, aimed at greater economic and geopolitical integration among member states.
