DURBAN, (CAJ News) – THE KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Mid-South Coast is positioning itself as an increasingly attractive investment destination, with a large-scale clean-up and beautification initiative underway to complement the region’s natural assets and competitive property market.

Known for its subtropical climate, affordability, and Blue Flag beaches, the Mid-South Coast is already drawing strong real estate interest.

This appeal is now being enhanced through joint public-private efforts led by Renishaw Coastal Precinct and its Phase One development, Renishaw Hills.

Over the past fortnight, the initiative has undertaken a comprehensive clean-up in Scottburgh, starting with the Main Road from the Dududu Off-Ramp to the Coconut Village turn-off.

Six local workers have been hired for the project, which includes monthly litter collection, verge maintenance, alien plant removal, and the restoration of public landmarks such as the Checkers Circle on Scott Street.

More than 20 bags of litter were removed on the first day alone.

“It’s truly inspiring to see the results of the work being done by our local environmental and community groups, and we’re honoured to be part of the positive change,” said Barto van der Merwe, Managing Director of Renishaw Property Developments, a subsidiary of JSE-listed Crookes Brothers Limited.

To support tourism, Renishaw Coastal Precinct has also pledged a sun shelter for lifesavers at Scottburgh Main Beach and will introduce branded umbrellas for public hire, with proceeds benefiting local beautification projects.

“These efforts are already yielding results,” Van der Merwe added. “We’re excited to welcome summer visitors and investors to discover the full potential of the Mid-South Coast.”
