WINDHOEK, (CAJ News) – BRAZIL and Namibia have lauded the solid relations between the countries.

This commendation came as President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah received a farewell courtesy visit from Vivian Loss Sanmartin, Ambassador of Brazil to Namibia.

Nandi-Ndaitwah lauded the positive bilateral relations, which he said had “grown from strength to strength” since establishment in 1990, the year of Namibia’s independence.

“Namibia and its people have always relied on Brazil as a reliable ally,” she said.

Notable areas of trade and cooperation between the two countries are education, defence and agriculture.

Nandi-Ndaitwah further expressed Namibia’s appreciation for Brazil’s support in training Namibian Navy officials and their understanding of the law of the sea.

Sanmartin concurred, adding the relations had resulted in the signing of trade relations and various Memoranda of Understanding.

The Brazilian Embassy in Namibia has also supported Namibia’s school feeding projects.

Additionally, with the recent discovery of oil in Namibia, Sanmartin pledged Brazil’s willingness to offer technical support in the oil and gas sectors.
