NAIROBI – KENYA have an opportunity to redeem themselves back in international cricket when the International Cricket Council (ICC) second division tournament holds in Windhoek, Namibia on Saturday.

The division two cricket promotional matches will be contested for a week in the southern African nation, with two emerging best teams to join the world’s cricket elite.

Kenya, who were in the elite cricket group comprising Australia, England, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, West Indies, New Zealand, Pakistan, India, Scotland and Ireland were relegated last year following poor showing.

As a result, Kenya is now required to win the ICC World League Division Two alongside the host nation Namibia, Netherlands, Nepal, Uganda and Canada in order to return to the elite group.

The World Cup Cricket League would present an opportunity to Kenya together with other aspiring nations to advance to the ICC Cricket World Cup set for 2019.

According to the ICC, the nations to contest in Namibia were selected based on results of the 2014 World Cup Qualifier and the 2014 ICC World Cricket League Division Three.
