ABUJA, (CAJ News) POLICE have arrested eight suspects in connection with escalating ritual killings and sale of body parts in northern Nigeria.

Some eleven human skulls and bones as well as powder suspected to be pounded human bones, human hair and charms are among exhibits confiscated during operations in the Kwara State.

Police believe the suspects are involved in kidnapping, murder, ritual killings and exhuming dead bodies where after they remove vital body parts such as the skull, genital organs, eyes, human hair and bones and sell for rituals and spiritual powers to unnamed personalities in the West African country.

It is alleged 31 human heads have been sold to some prominent
personalities in the state capital, Ilorin, and nearby towns.

Jimoh Moshood, Nigeria police spokesperson, said all the suspects had made confessional statements wherein they confessed to roles in the recent kidnapping, murder and ritual killings.

He said investigations were ongoing and efforts were underway to arrest prominent personalities mentioned by the suspects.

“The suspects will all be arraigned in court on completion of
investigations,” Moshood said.

Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country with over 195 million people, is enduring a series of violent crimes, chiefly the terror by the Islamist Boko Haram group.
