Ramaphosa announces cabinet reshuffle

PRETORIA, (CAJ News) SOUTH African President Cyril Ramaphosa has made a cabinet reshuffle, but interestingly appointed outgoing Mpumalanga Premier David Mabuza as the country’s deputy president.

Also key administration portfolios saw the re-appointment of Nhlanhla Nene as finance minister, Pravin Gordhan (public enterprises), Derek Hanekom (tourism), Naledi Pandor (higher education and training) and Gwede Mantashe (mineral resources).

The ruling African National Congress (ANC) immediately welcomed the new announcement as a strong foundation for greater alignment and cooperation between the party and its cadres deployed in

“We extend our gratitude to all comrades who served in the immediate past Cabinet and are confident that they and their skills are not lost to the ANC. The ANC is confident that, as disciplined members of the organization, they will continue to serve the movement and the people of South Africa in whatever capacity they are deployed,” the ANC statement read.
