NAIROBI, (CAJ News) – MILITANTS have killed three people after an attack at a school northeastern Kenya.

Two teachers and a wife of one of the educators have been confirmed dead following the attack by suspected members of the al-Shabaab terror group at the Qarsa Primary School in Wajir.

It is believed the victims, named as teachers, Kevin Shari and Seth Oluoch Odada, and the latter’s wife, Caroline, were killed for the Christian beliefs.

Odada was decapitated while his wife and Shari were shot in the head.

One Muslim man suffered a bullet wound to the hand as he tried to protect the victims.

Mohamed Sheikh, the Wajir Administration Police commandant, said that the group suspected to be members of the Islamist al-Shabaab terror group, also set an improvised explosive device on the route to the school.

The explosive hit one of the security vehicles that was responding to the attack. No officer was injured.

Al-Shabaab is based in neighbouring Somalia but the militants frequently carry out attacks over the border in the north-east and coastal areas of Kenya.

Many Christians from these areas have fled affected places.

According to Open Doors, the religious rights group, dozens of Christians were killed by the militant Islamic group last year, some of whom were beheaded.
