HARARE, (CAJ News) – BARELY three years he expelled his female deputy, Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has fired another, this time Emmerson Mnangagwa as vice president of the country, it has been confirmed.
Mugabe expelled Mnangagwa on Monday afternoon for alleged disloyalty, disrespect and deceitfulness.
Confirming Mnangagwa’s expulsion was the minister of information Simon Khaya Moyo.
There are reports Senate President Edna Madzongwe will replace Mnangagwa as the country’s second vice president.
Mnangagwa, who survived an attempt on his life in Gwanda this year through food poisoning was key in the Zanu PF government since 1980 where he held several cabinet posts.
The 75-year-old Mnangagwa was former intelligence chief, security and justice ministers before.
In 2014, Mugabe expelled his female deputy Joice Mujuru on allegations of plotting to topple his through, among others, witchcraft allegations.
