DURBAN, (CAJ News) – SUPERSPORT United are the 2017 MTN8 Wafa Wafa champions!

This follows a deadlock 1-1 in both regulation and extra-time in a tightly contested MTN8 Wafa Wafa match played at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday night.

Matsatsantsa won the match 4-2 on penalty shoot-out.

Earlier on Cape Town City had scored their goal through enterprising Sibusiso Masina in 23rd minute before SuperSport United forced an equaliser through super sub Thabo Mnyamane 10 minutes before regulation time.

Sadly, Mnyamane who had come in for the less effective Jeremy Brockie upfront could not finish the match as he battled knee injury.

Cape Town City had congested the midfield, but relied on wings and counter attacks yet fluffing easy scoring chances.

SuperSport United had to finish the game with nine players when two players had been injured after exhausting all the substitutes.

Ronwen Williams, in goals for SuperSport was their hero when he save two penalties.
