ABUJA, (CAJ News) – THE Biafra Nations Youth League (BNYL) has denounced the proscription of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a terrorist organisation by the government of Nigeria.
The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Prosecution, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, said the group’s activities had been outlawed.
BNYL lashed at the presidential aide, whose sentiments followed the clashes between state security forces and protestors advocating the independence of the Biafra.
“The judgement is invalid and will not be effective,” BYNL Deputy Leader, said.
“Banning Biafra activities because of the clash between the IPOB and Hausas is stupidity in the highest order.”
Takon said they were neither panicking nor afraid to be prosecuted.
“Obla is only talking talking talking (sic) but when the chips are down he will shut his mouth.”
The proscription of IPOB is the latest in a series of tensions in Nigeria around the autonomy of Biafra, formerly an independent state.
