JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – BEAUTY queens contesting for the rescheduled
Miss Africa Continent pageant will be arriving in South Africa in the
coming days ahead of the event set for September.
The pan-African pageant will be held in Rivonia, northern Johannesburg on
September 2.
“The reigning queens from various African countries are expected to arrive
in South Africa on August 22nd and 23rd,” Neo Mashishi, the Miss Africa
Continent Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, confirmed.
The event was initially scheduled to take place in Rwanda on May 20 but
could not proceed owing to differences between hosts and organisers.
“We saw it being viable to host Miss Africa Continent during Africa
Month,” Mashishi said on the initial plans.
“To avoid an acrimonious situation, we decided to bring the event back
home,” he added.
This will be the second Miss Africa Continent.
Miss Ghana 2015 second runner-up, Rebecca Asamoah, won the inaugural
edition held in Johannesburg in 2016.
She beat 11 other contestants.
Zambian contestant Michelo Malambo and South Africa’s Jemimah Kandimiri
placed second and third respectively.
