BREAKING: Nigeria troops rescue thousands, kill 400 terrorists

MAIDUGURI, (CAJ News) – THE Nigerian Army has announced the rescue of more than 19 000 civilians and the killing of over 400 members of the Boko Haram during recent operations against the terror group.
The breakthroughs announced by Major General Ibrahim Attahiru on Thursday were reached during the operations under the Lafiya Dole (Peace by Force) between April and June.
He announced 810 Boko Haram terrorists were arrested during the period under review.
Attahiru disclosed about 70 surrendered to Operation Lafiya Dole troops deployed in the fringes of the Sambisa forest northeast of the country.
The operation commander said another group of 700 insurgents had also indicated interest to willingly surrender to troops.
“I call on them today to be bold and reject the hypocrisy of the Boko Haram leadership, who live in affluence while their foot soldiers die inhunger, to surrender to any military location closest to them. I assurethem of protection and safety of their lives,” Attahiru said.
The Boko Haram has killed over 20 000 civilians during an eight-year campaign to carve an Islamic State in the West African country.
