RUSTENBURG, (CAJ News) – FAVOURITES Zimbabwe Warriors progressed to the semi final of the Cosafa Castle Cup following a 2-1 victory over Swaziland in a match played at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday night.

Goals by captain Ovidy Karuru (16th) and Knox Mutizwa (79) were all the Zimbabwean side required to dismiss Sihlangu out of the tournament.

After the second half, Swaziland threatened the Warriors with short passes resulting in a brilliant header in an immediately after second half strike by Swaziland’s to force an equaliser through Felix Badenhorst (48) minute.

However, the Zimbabwe team, who did not wish to have penalty shoot out introduced Mtizwa, who banged his goal with a powerful header to silence Swaziland’s verve.

Following the goal, a sizeable Zimbabwean supporters started singing “yave-nyama yekugocha” in Shona, which literally means Swaziland were their braai meat.

Zimbabwe will now meet Lesotho in the semi final.
