RUSTENBURG, (CAJ News) – DEFENDING champions South Africa’s Bafana were narrowly beaten 0-1 by Tanzania to be knocked out of the COSAFA Castle Cup tournament in a quarter final played at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday.

A solitary strike by Elias Maguri was all Tanzania needed to progress to the semi-final of the Cosafa tournament.

Tanzania started on the offensive while the host nation retreated to defending.

Though Bafana tried to exert pressure towards regulation time, the damage had already been inflicted.

Tanzania will be meeting Zambia in a semi-final encounter set for Wednesday.

In the meantime, Swaziland were due to play Zimbabwe in another quarter-final encounter at the same venue at 19:30.
