Cape Town City, Wits lead PSL awards nominations

CT Capetown PSLAJOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – BIDVEST Wits captain, Thulani Hlatshwayo, and the Cape Town City stars Aubrey Ngoma and Lebogang Manyama, have received the most nominees for the Premier Soccer League Awards to be held in Johannesburg in July.
They have three nominations each for the awards set for the 10th.
This caps an excellent season for both sides as Wits finished league winners and City clinched the Telkom Knockout and finished third in their maiden season.
Hlatshwayo and Manyama are nominated alongside Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompo Kekana for the Footballer of the Season.
Manyama and Ngoma are vying for the Absa Premiership Players’ Player of the Season.
The pair is also up for the Telkom Knockout Player of the Season together with Mixhael Boxall of Supersport United.
Manyama will walk away with the Top Goal Scorer Award (13 goals).
Hlatshwayo has two other nominations for Defender of the Season, alongside teammate Sifiso Hlanti, and MTN 8 Last Man Standing.
Ngoma is up for Midfielder of the Season.
Meanwhile, Wits have other nominees in Gavin Hunt (Coach of the Season), Thabang Monare (Midfielder of the Season), Darren Keet (Goalkeepr of the Season), Phakamani Mahlambi (Young Player of the Season and Malwian Gabadinho Mhango (MTN 8 Last Man Standing).
For City, Shuaib Walters is vying for Goalkeeper of the Season while former trainer Eric Tinkler is nominated for Coach of the Season. – CAJ News
