HARARE, (CAJ News) – NEWLY appointed Zimbabwe Warriors captain, Knowledge “Silent Assassin” Musona scored a hat-trick to help his country thrash Liberia 3-0 in a thrilling African Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier Group G played at the National Sports Stadium in Harare on Sunday.

The Warriors, as Zimbabwe is affectionately called dominated the match from the onset with the combination of Musona, Kuda Mahachi, Marvelous Nakamba and Thabani Kamusoko, who tore the visitors’ defence into shreds.

The victory saw the Warriors temporarily go on top of their group.

The Warriors, who appointed new coaching department headed by former Zimbabwe captain Norman Mapeza were a marvel to watch as they played flawless football.

Liberia had heavily depended on Prince Kennedy, but being the lone figure could not avert the tragedy following a barrage of onslaught from left, right and centre as they pinned the West Africans to their own half.

Elsewhere Senegal trounced Equatorial Guinea 3-0, Mali beating Gabon 2 -1, Burkina Faso trashing Angol 3-1, DR Congo destroying neighbours Congo 3-1, Tanzania being held to a 1-1 draw b Lesotho while Sierra Leone edged 2 -1 Kenya.

Guinea-Bissau narrowly beat Namibia 1-0 Namibia.
