Ex-presidential doctor faces fraud charges




ABUJA, (CAJ News) - A FORMER doctor to ex-Nigeria President Goodluck
Jonathan has been arraigned in court for alleged money laundering.
Dr. Fortunate Fiberesima, the former Chief Executive Officer of the State
House Medical Centre in Abuja, is facing a six-count charge for allegedly
abusing his position as the Chief Physician to the President in 2012 in
awarding contract to a company where he has interests.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleged he benefitted
to the tune of over N258 million (over 844 000).
At the resumed sitting at the Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting
in Maitama, Abuja on Tuesday, the defendant pleaded not guilty to all the
Justice Peter Affen has adjourned the trial to June 6.
President Muhammadu Buhari defeated Jonathan in the 2015 election.
His administration is probing some members of the previous administration
for corruption.
There have been calls for Jonathan himself to be arrested for alleged
