Safaricom, Kwesé TV agree video distribution deal

NAIROBI, (CAJ News) – INDUSTRY leader, Safaricom, has signed a distribution agreement with Econet Media’s Kwesé TV to deliver premium video content to Kenyan consumers.
Kwesé TV is Africa’s newest multi-platform pay television network.
Leveraging Safaricom’s 4G network, Safaricom subscribers will be able to stream Kwesé’s programming on their connected devices through innovative data bundles, which will be available to customers.
Sylvia Mulinge, Director- Consumer Business at Safaricom, said the aim was to enhance customer experience and deliver solutions that meet their unique needs.
“Video content is the future of mobile and our partnership with Kwese will enable us to deliver some of the best international and local video content,” said Mulinge.
She described the partnership as powerful, which would greatly benefit customers and have a positive impact on the local industry.
Econet Media Chief Executive Officer, Joseph Hundah, said the company was seeing increasing integration across our related industries in telecommunications and media.
“We are excited by the potential that mobile TV offers and look forward to working with Safaricom to deliver our content into the hands of even more Kenyans,” said Hundah.
Kwesé TV’s offering will be accessible through Safaricom video data packages and M-Pesa, which will be made available shortly.
