Busan port city to host 9th e-Sports World Championship

JOHANNESBURG -Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) an affiliate of the South African Confederation of Sport and Olympic Committee are back in drawing board as places for e proteas team are up for grabs.
This follows the unveiling of Busan  port city in South Korea as the host of the  9th e-Sports World Championship .
The 9th e-Sports World Championship 2017,  is the sole international e-sports event where players compete as representing their countries .
The global sports festival will be held at the Busan Port Authority Convention Center from November 8th to 12th, 2017.
Busan is a large port city in South Korea which is known for its beaches, mountains and temples. Busy Haeundae Beach features the Sea Life Aquarium, plus a Folk Square with traditional games such as tug-of-war, while Gwangalli Beach has many bars and views of the ‘Diamond Bridge’. BeomeosaTemple, a Buddhist shrine founded in 678 A.D., is at the base of Geumjeong Mountain, which also has hiking trails.
After the announcement of the official titles, IeSF member national federations will commence their national qualifiers. Players who are selected through national qualifiers will be formally recognized as sports athletes representing each country at the World Championship with endorsement of their government or national sports authority, reveals MSSA.
IeSF was established in 2008, and has successfully run the annual World Championships every year since 2009.
South Africa will look to better their 14th position from the 2016 Jakarta –  Indonesia championships.
The MSSA is responsible for the good governance and promotion of Board games (such as Backgammon, Diplomacy, Checkers, Draughts, Morabaraba, etc.), Card games, eSports (whether they are played on ‘cell ‘phones, consoles, personal computers or similar), Robotics, and historical figure games (also known as wargames).
