JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – IN a significant move to drive digital transformation and encourage the adoption of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions, thousands of participants have simultaneously taken part at digital day events in 25 African countries.
Oracle, the multinational computer technology corporation, organised the events.
Abdul Rahman Al Thehaiban, Senior Vice President – Tech, Middle East and Africa, says Africa is a priority market for Oracle and the company is committed to support Africa’s Industry 4.0 preparedness with our latest Cloud solutions.
“With total cloud revenues, including IaaS reaching $1,2 billion in Q3 2017 fiscal, Oracle is well positioned to support Africa’s digital transformation revolution that will act as a catalyst for social and economic growth.”
Across the continent, Oracle experts fanned out across the continent to showcase how the industry’s broadest array of Cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offerings can help businesses achieve unmatched value and performance.
During the event, Oracle experts also interacted with Africa’s fast growing developer community through an engaging twitter chat that lasted nearly two hours.
Cherian Varghese, Cluster Leader – Africa, Oracle, says as cloud adoption continues to increase in Africa, organisations are now looking to transition several of their business functions to the cloud for maximum return on investment.
“The Oracle digital day event was an opportunity for us to present our Gen 2 IaaS solutions that enable organisations to run any workload at any time, while innovative migration tools pave the way by simplifying how organizations migrate on-premise workloads to the cloud,” says Varghese.
IaaS is a form of cloud computing that provides virtualized computing resources over the Internet. It is one of three main categories of cloud computing services, alongside Software as a Service and Platform as a Service.
