SAFTAs 11 launched in Johannesburg

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – NOMINATIONS for the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAS) are now open.
The SAFTAs, launched in Johannesburg on Thursday, will be held from March 16 to 18 at Sun City in the North West.
The eleventh edition of the SAFTAs has 89 official categories.
The NFVF have appointed over 181 judges across the industry to adjudicate a fair voting process that started in December 2016 which will end in early February 2017.
The SAFTAs 11 judging process has been under the directorship and guidance from industry practitioners such as Jerry Mofokeng, Dr John Kani and Firdoze Bulbulia.
The judging process has been officially procured by PWC South Africa.
The SAFTAs, managed under the custodianship of the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) are an integral part of the growth, skills development and transformation aligned with NFVF’s goals for the industry.
“The SAFTAs have been a successful platform that we as the NFVF continue to recognize,” says Zama Mkosi, Chief Executive Officer of the NFVF.
The SAFTAs 11 have also collaborated with partners such as Sun International, Sun City will be home of the SAFTAs for the next five years.

Youth Achiever Award.
The SAFTAs will be broadcast live.
