HARARE, (CAJ News) – ZIMBABWE’S senior men’s national football team has received a major boost ahead of the 2017 Total Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon after mobile network operator, NetOne, announced a whopping US$250, 000 sponsorship package.
Information, Communications, Technology, Postal and Courier Services Minister, Supa Mandiwanzira facilitated the sponsorship.
The sponsorship under NetOne’s Fusion brand, will cover the Warriors’ campaign including airfares and players’ allowances.
Sport and Recreation Minister, Makhosini Hlongwane hailed Mandiwanzira for facilitating the deal.
“I profoundly appreciate Mandiwanzira for his role in securing the sponsorship,” said Hlongwane.
It comes as huge relief following a series of financial challenges the team faced during the qualification campaign.
Zimbabwe are in Group B alongside Algeria, Tunisia and Senegal.
