Kenyatta wary of regime change agents

NAIROBI, (CAJ News) – PRESIDENT Uhuru Kenyatta alleged foreign nations were channeling money to his country to effect regime change.
He was speaking in the capital Nairobi at the East African country’s independence celebrations.
The fete was held eight months before general polls.
“There is already money coming into Kenya from abroad in the guise of supporting good governance or civic education,” alleged Kenyatta.
He added, “However, its true intention is to influence our electoral choices.”
His sentiments coincided with months of a crackdown on foreign funded non-governmental organisations and rights activists.
Kenyatta meanwhile warned leaders against inciting violence ahead of the general polls.
He reminded them of the deadly 2007/08 poll violence that claimed the lives of more than 1 000 people and left 650 000 displaced.
The violence led the International Criminal Court to open charges against Kenyatta and his Deputy, President William Ruto.
They were cleared of crimes against humanity.
