Trio arrested for killing, abducting Dangote staff

ABUJA, (CAJ News) – THE Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police has arrested three suspects that allegedly murdered one worker and
kidnapped five expatriate staff of the Dangote Group.

The suspects have been named as Abubakar Gide (24) Abdullahi Salihu (22) and Babuga Adamu (25), from Ogun, Lagos and Kwara States respectively.

Police said the suspects confessed to kidnapping and releasing all five initial victims after receiving N5,6 million ransom ( less than USD 20000).

It is reported they also confessed to kidnapping and murdering the ransom transporter, Istifanus Gurama, also of Dangote Group.

Police spokesman, Don Awunah, said the suspects had since led police to their hideout in Ijebu Igbo in Ogun where arms and ammunition were

These include three AK47 rifles, six AK47 magazines and 160 rounds of ammunition.

The suspects further led IRT operatives to Apoje River where the body of Gurama was recovered.

Awunah said efforts were in progress to arrest other gang members who are currently at large in other states.
