From ROSY SADOU in Yaoundé, Cameroon
YAOUNDE, (CAJ News) – SOUTH Africa midfielder, Nompulelelo Nyandeni, is wary of the threat posed by Nigeria ahead of the African Women’s Cup of
Nations semifinal in Cameroon.
The two sides will renew their rivalry at Stade Limbe Omnisport on Tuesday. Kickoff is 19h00 Nigeria time.
“It is always a battle of the best when we face Nigeria,” said Nyandeni.
“The rivalry between us started long before our days in the national team, and playing against the Super Falcons is always like a cup final.”
“Mpumi” added that was regardless of the stage of the tournament.
“In any case once you are in the last four you can’t pick and choose. Those teams did not get there by fluke, and to get to the top you have to
go past them,” said Nyandeni.
The long-serving player described Nigeria as a “very balanced” side but “not impossible to beat.”
“If we settle early in the match, and follow our game tactics, then I believe we stand a good chance of overcoming them.”
Hosts Cameroon will contest the other semifinal against Ghana at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaoundé.
