128 Nigeria police killed in line of duty

ABUJA, (CAJ News) – THE Nigeria Police Force has lost 128 members officers in the past three months following attacks by religious extremists, bandits, hoodlums and militants.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris, who disclosed the figures, described the trend as “deeply worrisome.”

Speaking in Abuja, he expressed regret at the loss of the personnel in the course of their national duty and condoled with their families, while assuring them of the Force’s support to cushion the effect of this irreparable loss.

“Their departure will certainly not be in vain.”

Idris urged the officers not to relent or be distracted in their collective will to serve this country, the costly challenges
notwithstanding.

“The law abiding citizens are equally advised to continue to render the Police the desired support and assistance.”
