Uganda eager to showcase agro potential

KAMPALA, (CAJ News) – AGRICULTURE is shining bright for Uganda.

This will be the theme of the keynote address by Ssempijja Vincent Bamulangaki, Uganda’s Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and
Fisheries, during the opening session of the upcoming Agribusiness Congress East Africa in the capital Kampala next Tuesday.

The minister will address some 150 industry experts that are expected to gather for the fourth edition of Agribusiness Congress East Africa.

It is hosted by the Grain Council of Uganda with the official support from the National Agricultural Advisory Services and the Ministry of
Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries of Uganda.

It is the first time the two-day regional event is taking place in Uganda.

Dr Sinare Sinare, Chairman, Agriculture Council Tanzania and Argent Chuula, Chief Executive Officer of Alliance for Commodity Trade in Eastern
and Southern Africa (ACTESA) will also present.
The event enjoys wide support from the local and regional farming sector in the region.

Well-known agri suppliers including Engsol, John Deere, Mascor, Tafe, Case, Chief Industries, Irrico, Rivulis and Toyota are event sponsors.

Agribusiness Congress East Africa will offer market access to more than 200 million people through Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi,
Tanzania and South Sudan.

Agriculture accounts for almost 30 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) in East African countries while staple foods represent 75 percent of total
agricultural products traded. Agriculture employs more than 60 percent of the population in the region.

The event is organised by Spintelligent, a trade conference and expo organiser on the continent.
