KHARTOUM, (CAJ News) – NEIGHBOURING countries Sudan and South Sudan have been warned against compromising each other’s peace and stability.

South Sudan is harbouring and providing support for Sudanese armed opposition groups who are disturbing peace in the latter.

On the other hand, the presence of Sudanese armed opposition forces in South Sudan, and their involvement in South Sudan’s internal conflicts, is destabilising both countries.

These developments are in violation of the United Nations Security Council Resolutions of 2012 to enhance peace in the region after South Sudan gained independence from Sudan a year earlier.

It is also a violation of the recently reached agreement as both countries agreed to end support for armed opposition groups on either side.

The United States has thus urged Sudan and South Sudan to fully respect the 2012 Agreement on Security Arrangements, and withdraw their armed forces from the Safe Demilitarized Border Zone.
