JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – UNILEVER, the consumer goods company, has maintained its position as the employer of choice in the continent.

The firm emerged worthy winners at a glittering Africa’s Top Employers 2017 certification dinner held in Johannesburg, South Africa on Thursday.

It is a record third successive accolade as the employer of choice, a resounding endorsement of the company’s human resources (HR) practices.

The Netherlands-headquartered The Top Employers Institute bestowed the honour on Unilever following a record number of entries. The Top Employers Institute globally certifies excellence in the conditions that employers create for their people.

Mechell Chetty, Unilever Human Resources Vice President for HR, is elated at the accolade.

“Winning the accolade as employer of choice for a record third successive highlights the energy and effort put in to develop and implement the best HR practices consistently in the African continent,” said Chetty.

“The bar has been raised in HR practice. It makes me proud to stand before you as the winner considering the caliber of the companies that were in line for this accolade. I thank our global and local team for endorsing tailor made policies to ensure we remain ever relevant in the market.”

Chetty pledged the company’s commitment to the continent.

“We aim to build African talent for Africa and the rest of the world.” With 172 000 employees globally, Uniliver is one of the biggest consumer goods company in the world.
