JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – THE South African Institute of Black PropertyPractitioners (SAIBPP) will in November host its annual convention in Midrand to explore the property sector’s potential as a key driver for thecountry’s sustainable economic growth and wealth redistribution. The convention is set for the 2nd and 3rd.

The overall theme will be underpinned by the robust interrogation oftopics including land reform, property ownership, public sectortransformation policy and sustainable economic development.“This year marks SAIBPP’s 20th Anniversary and we believe that it’s timefor honest reflection on the slow pace of transformation in SA, and ourindustry in particular,” says SAIBPP President, Nkuli Bogopa.

Bogopa says the conference represents a strategic, practical andsolutions-orientated approach to dealing with the current challengesfacing the various stakeholders in the property sector.

“For instance, beyond legislation, what practical interventions do we nowneed to apply in order to see radical transformation in the propertysector?”

The SAIBPP Awards dinner will wrap up the two-day programme where industryprofessionals, will once again honour property industry leaders that haveexcelled in their respective disciplines and companies that have succeededin demonstrating a commitment to transformation.

This year will see the introduction of a new award category honouringexcellent academic achievement.Property and land ownership is one of the key foundations of wealthcreation and the basis upon which our currently stagnant economy will berebuilt.

The industry is valued at R5,8 trillion according to Property SectorCharter, excluding the value chain and associated services. It has been noted black people are still largely excluded from the entirevalue chain, which SAIBPP finds “unacceptable” and “unsustainable” 22years into democracy.
