Decisive weekend in NPFL photo finish
The thrilling finish anticipated starts this evening with the clash between Enugu Rangers and Sunshine Stars at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
Kickoff is 20h00 local time.
Second-placed Rangers and fifth-positioned Stars are neck-on-neck with a handful of sides still in contention of the title.
With 54 points, three games left, Rangers are two points behind leaders Rivers United.
Rangers will thus be gunning for maximum points as this will see them leapfrog the side from the Rivers State who are in action on Sunday.
Stars will prove no pushovers, placed four points behind their Friday evening opponents.
A win will not only see Stars slash the gap between them and Rangers to a single point but will take them to third on the standings.
Meanwhile in another top-of-the-table clash, favourites Rivers are away to fourth-placed Wikki Tourist who also stand a good chance to claim the title.
They are five points behind Rivers and depending on the outcome of the matches featuring the other top sides could find themselves second this weekend.
Third-placed Ifeanyi Uba meanwhile also have a mathematical chance of claiming the trophy, sitting three points behind Rivers and a single point behind Rangers.
They play Lobi Stars who are out of contention but can still finish as high as second.
Elsewhere, on Sunday, Kano Pillars host El Kanemi Warriors in a dead rubber match.
Plateau United, who are not entirely safe from relegation, entertain rock-bottom Ikorodu United.
Warri Wolves and Shooting Stars will also be involved in a clash of relegation haunted sides.
Abia Warriors’ attempt to survive the axe will continue at Nassarawa United.
Precariously-placed Heartland, third from bottom, face revived Niger Tornadoes.
Seventh-placed Enyimba host MFM.
