ABUJA, (CAJ News) – THE Nigerian Navy has destroyed refineries in Akwa Ibom and Delta States as part of an ongoing crackdown on activities of crude oil thieves and pipeline vandals.

During an operation, a Navy patrol team destroyed a Cotonou boat laden with suspected stolen crude oil, 103 drums of petrol and two motorcycles.

Another team has raided several illegal refinery sites along Jones Creek in Delta State.

During the raid, the patrol team destroyed unquantifiable amount of stolen crude oil and illegally refined oil.

In a related development, the Nigerian Navy Ship NWAMBA arrested an unspecified number of suspects aboard a vessel alleged to be carrying illegal products.

“The vessel and its crew are being investigated,” said Christian Ezekobe, Navy Director of Information.

Ezekobe said the Navy therefore reiterated its resolve to eliminate all forms of economic sabotage and criminal activities in the maritime areas of the country.
