Petra announces sale of rare diamond find

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – THE exceptional diamond whose discovery Petra Diamonds Limited announced on Wednesday will be offered for sale later this month.

Petra, the leading independent diamond mining group and supplier of rough diamonds to the international market, announced the discovery of the 138.57 carat Type IIa, D colour gem at the Cullinan Mine in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The sale, at a date not announced, will as part of Petra’s next sales process in Johannesburg.

Its discovery comes a month after announces that the exceptional 121.26 carat white diamond recovered at the Cullinan Mine had sold for US$6 million (US$49,480 per carat).

Nemesis International and Golden Yellow Diamonds, a joint venture comprising two leading diamond manufacturers who specialise in large diamonds bought the stone.
